Custom Auto Shop Labels

Label every drawer in your roll-away, top chest and parts cart with the words your techs actually use. Bold white text on Workshop Red, Heritage Black or Cobalt Blue, held on with exposed N52 magnets.

Why drawer labels pay for themselves in a working bay

A flat-rate tech loses real money every time they open the wrong drawer. Across a 10-drawer roll-away that is a few seconds per job, dozens of times a day. Clear drawer labels turn the box into a map: the apprentice finds the 3/8 deep sockets without asking, and the tool that walked away gets noticed because its drawer is labeled and empty.

Our labels are 34mm tall with heavy white lettering on a solid color field, so they read from across the bay, not just from arm's length. That is the difference between a label maker strip you squint at and a label you can find with peripheral vision while holding a part.

How the magnets hold on a steel tool chest

Every label carries exposed N52 neodymium magnets that sit directly against the steel drawer face. Nothing between the magnet and the metal means the strongest possible grip on a painted steel roll-away from Snap-on, Matco, Mac, Husky, Craftsman or US General. They survive drawer slams and stay put when you lean on the box.

Because they are magnetic, you can move them when you reorganize. Swap your sockets and wrenches drawers and the labels go with them in two seconds. No adhesive residue on a box you paid thousands for. If your chest is aluminum or stainless, choose the 3M VHB adhesive option in the builder instead. Keep labels on the box and off anything that runs hot: the PLA softens around 55 to 60C, so a hood, a valve cover or an engine bay is no place for one.

What to put on your labels

Most techs label by tool family first (Sockets, Wrenches, Pliers, Pry Bars) and then split big categories by system (Metric and SAE, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 Drive, Deep and Shallow). Service carts work better labeled by job: Brake Tools, Coolant, Oil Filters, Diagnostics. Keep each label to one or two short words so it stays large and readable.

Pick one color for the whole box for a clean look, or use color as a code: red for hand tools, blue for electrical and diagnostics, black for consumables. The builder lets you start from our existing Automotive Sockets, Hand Tools and Auto Maintenance packs and edit from there.

Auto Shop label sets

Ready-made sets of the words this trade labels most, grouped by where they go. Each set opens in the builder with every label in place; add, remove or retype any of them before you order.

Socket Drawers labels

Magnetic toolbox drawer labels for sockets. Split the socket drawers of a roll-away by drive size, depth and system. A tech reaching for a 3/8 Drive deep metric socket reads the drawer face instead of opening three drawers, and an empty drawer shows what walked off.

Hand Tool Drawers labels

Magnetic tool chest labels for wrenches and pliers. Labels for the hand tool side of the box: wrenches, ratchets, pliers, drivers and pry bars. Group by tool family so the apprentice can put things back where they belong and the specialty drawer stops turning into a junk drawer.

Service Cart labels

Magnetic service cart labels for auto repair. A rolling service cart works best labeled by job, not by tool. Oil change, brake and electrical supplies each get a drawer, so everything for a common job comes to the car in one trip and goes back the same way.

Parts Shelf labels

Magnetic parts shelf labels for auto shops. Steel parts shelving fills with gaskets, belts, hoses and orders waiting on a car. Label the shelf edge by part type, and give cores, warranty returns and held parts their own spots so nothing gets installed or shipped back by mistake.

Shop Job Board labels

Magnetic job board labels for auto repair shops. Fixed headers for the shop whiteboard that tracks every car in the bays. Write the repair order, tech and promise time beside each field with a dry-erase marker, and move the status labels as the job goes from waiting on parts to ready.

Auto Shop label questions

Will magnetic labels fall off when I slam a drawer?

No. The N52 magnets are exposed and sit flush against the steel drawer face, which gives them far more holding force than a rubber magnet sheet. They are designed to stay put through normal drawer use on a painted steel tool chest.

Do these labels work on an aluminum or stainless tool box?

Magnets only stick to ferrous steel. Most painted roll-aways are steel, but aluminum truck boxes and many stainless chests are not magnetic. Choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing option in the builder for those surfaces.

How long can each label be?

Up to 12 characters. The real limit is printed width: every label must fit under 243mm on our print plate. The builder measures each label live and warns you before you order if a word is too wide.

Can I mix colors in one order?

Each order prints in one color. To color-code a tool chest, place one order per color; each order has its own 5-label minimum.

How fast do custom auto shop labels ship?

Custom labels are printed to order and ship from Oregon in 3 to 5 business days with free US shipping.
