Custom Data Center Labels
Printed cable tags and asset stickers handle the fine detail. These are the big labels: what a rack is for, which cabinet holds the spare PSUs and which bin has the 3m Cat6 patch cords. Heavy white lettering on a solid color field reads from the end of a row, and the magnets let you relabel when a rack changes role.
What to label in a server room or IT closet
Start with rack roles on the front and rear doors: Core, Edge, Storage, Compute, Network, Backup. A remote hands tech or a new admin then knows which rack to open before checking the rack elevation. These labels sit alongside your rack and U numbering, not instead of it.
Next, the spares cabinet. Hard Drives, SSDs, Memory, PSUs, Fans, Optics and Rails on separate shelves turns a 2 a.m. part swap into a two minute walk. Add an RMA shelf and a Do Not Use shelf so failed parts never drift back into stock. Then the cable bins: Patch Cords, Fiber, DAC Cables, Power Cords and C13 to C14, plus a bin for Cage Nuts and Rack Screws.
Which rack surfaces are magnetic
Each label has exposed N52 neodymium magnets that sit directly on the metal. Most rack frames, side panels and solid doors are painted steel, and so are most steel storage cabinets and shelving units, so the labels grip hard and can be moved any time. Perforated mesh doors are usually steel too, though the smaller contact area holds a little less.
Aluminum panels, some cable trays and many plastic bins are not magnetic. For those, choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing option in the builder. Keep the magnets on doors, frames and cabinets, not on drive caddies or loose media, and never inside a powered chassis.
Heat, airflow and cleaning
The labels are printed in PLA plastic, which softens around 55 to 60C. A cold aisle door or a spares cabinet is well under that. Do not mount labels directly in front of PSU exhaust or inside a hot aisle containment roof where air can run much hotter, and keep them off vent slots so they do not block airflow.
Wipe them with a damp cloth or a mild cleaner. They are rack identification, not rated safety signage, and they are not a substitute for your required electrical or emergency markings.
Color and font for a rack row
Cobalt Blue stands out on black rack doors without reading as a warning. We suggest the Hyperlegible font because it keeps I, l and 1 distinct, which matters when a label says RMA or Rack 1. To color-code by environment, such as blue for production and red for lab, place one order per color, each with its own 5-label minimum.
Data Center label sets
Ready-made sets of the words this trade labels most, grouped by where they go. Each set opens in the builder with every label in place; add, remove or retype any of them before you order.
Spares Cabinet labels
Magnetic server spares cabinet labels. Shelf labels for the spares cabinet, so a 2 a.m. drive swap starts with the right shelf. Mark drives, memory, power supplies, optics and the RMA shelf in letters you can read with the cabinet door half open.

Patch Cable Bins labels
Magnetic patch cable bin labels. Bin labels for the cable wall: copper, fiber, DAC and power cords sorted by type, so nobody tears open three bins hunting for a C13 to C14. Move a label when you reshuffle the shelf instead of peeling tape.

Rack Door Roles labels
Magnetic server rack door labels. Big role labels for rack doors and end panels. Tell remote hands which rack is core, which is storage and which is headed for decom, readable from the end of a cold aisle before anyone opens a door.

Rack Status Board labels
Magnetic rack and cage whiteboard labels. Field headers for the cage or row whiteboard. Write the rack, circuits, PDU, ticket and change window beside each label with a dry-erase marker, and keep Do Not Touch where every tech will see it.

Remote Hands Cart labels
Magnetic data center crash cart labels. Drawer labels for the crash cart or remote hands toolbox. Cage nuts, rack screws, console gear and the fiber scope each get a home, so the cart comes back stocked and the next tech is not short a cage tool.

Pricing
The same price as our custom order page: $13.99 for the first 5 labels, $2.00 for each label after that, with a 5-label minimum. Big orders get cheaper: extra labels past 25 drop to $1.75 and past 50 to $1.50. There is no maximum order size. Magnets are included. Adhesive backing (3M VHB, for non-magnetic surfaces) is an optional add-on; its price is confirmed at order and is not included in the prices above.

Data Center label questions
Do magnetic labels stick to server rack doors?
On most racks, yes. Frames, side panels and doors are usually painted steel, including perforated mesh doors. Aluminum panels are not magnetic, so choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing for those.
Are the magnets safe near servers and hard drives?
Mount the labels on rack doors, frames and cabinets, not on drive caddies, tape or loose media, and never inside a powered chassis. That keeps the magnets away from anything sensitive.
Can these labels go in a hot aisle?
Keep them out of direct PSU exhaust and hot aisle containment. The labels are PLA plastic, which softens around 55 to 60C, so cold aisle doors and spares cabinets are the right spots.
Can I label each rack with its own name?
Yes. Each label is custom, up to 12 characters, so names like Core A or Rack 14 work. The builder checks every label's printed width live before you order.
How fast do custom server rack labels ship?
They are printed to order in Oregon and ship in 3 to 5 business days with free US shipping.
