Custom Gym & Fitness Labels
In a busy gym the equipment ends up wherever the last person dropped it. Clear labels on racks, cubbies and storage walls tell members exactly where kettlebells, bands and med balls go back, in heavy white lettering big enough to read between sets. They suit commercial gyms, CrossFit-style boxes, studios, school weight rooms and serious garage gyms.
What to label in a gym or training box
Label the storage that drifts most: dumbbell and kettlebell racks, plate trees and bumper storage, the band and jump rope hooks, med ball and slam ball shelves, and the mobility corner with foam rollers and mats. Numbered stations such as Rack 1, Rack 2 and Platform 1 make class programming and coaching cues faster: everyone knows where to go.
On a steel whiteboard, magnetic section headers like Warm Up, Strength, Conditioning and Cooldown let a coach rebuild the board for each class without rewriting the structure. Short words stay big: one or two words per label reads best from the back of the room.
Steel racks are perfect for magnets, with one placement tip
Power racks, rigs, dumbbell racks, plate trees and storage shelving are almost always powder-coated steel, and our exposed N52 magnets grip them hard. You can rearrange labels when the floor layout changes without scraping off old stickers.
Mount labels on crossmembers, end caps and shelf lips rather than in the path of a barbell or plate. A magnet holds through normal bumps, but a loaded bar sliding down an upright will knock anything off it. Painted steel lockers and steel whiteboards work well too.
Surfaces that need adhesive, and what to keep away from
Wood plyo boxes, plywood cubbies, plastic bins, mirrors and most aluminum or stainless trim are not magnetic. For those, choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing in the builder; it is semi-permanent.
The labels are PLA, which softens around 55 to 60C. Keep them out of saunas, away from heaters, and off equipment that sits outside or in a closed car in summer sun. Long outdoor UV exposure will also fade the color. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth or mild cleaner instead of soaking them in disinfectant.
Color and font for a gym floor
Heritage Black looks at home on black rigs and rubber flooring, while Workshop Red or Cobalt Blue can mark zones, for example red for strength and blue for conditioning. Each order prints in one color, so place one order per color, each with its own 5-label minimum. Block is our pick for bold, high-contrast gym labels.
Gym & Fitness label sets
Ready-made sets of the words this trade labels most, grouped by where they go. Each set opens in the builder with every label in place; add, remove or retype any of them before you order.
Class Whiteboard labels
Magnetic gym whiteboard labels. Field labels for the workout of the day board. Coaches write the movements beside fixed headers, and the structure stays straight and readable from the back of the room, class after class, without rewriting the layout.

Gym & Fitness label questions
Do magnetic labels stick to gym racks and dumbbell racks?
Yes. Power racks, rigs and dumbbell racks are usually powder-coated steel, and the exposed N52 magnets grip them firmly. Place them away from the barbell path so a sliding bar does not knock them off.
Can I use magnetic labels on a gym whiteboard?
If the whiteboard is steel-backed, yes. Section headers like Warm Up, Strength and Conditioning stay put and move easily between classes. Many cheap boards are not magnetic, so test with a fridge magnet first.
How do I label wood plyo boxes or plastic bins?
Wood and plastic are not magnetic, so choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing option in the builder. It is semi-permanent and holds best on clean, flat surfaces.
Can I clean the labels with gym disinfectant?
Wipe them with a damp cloth or mild cleaner. Avoid soaking them in harsh disinfectant, and keep them away from saunas and other heat above about 55C.
How fast do custom gym labels ship?
They are printed to order in Oregon and ship in 3 to 5 business days with free US shipping.
