Custom Classroom Labels
Classroom labels have to work for a seven-year-old across the room and survive a full school year. Ours are bold, movable magnetic labels for whiteboards, supply cabinets and filing cabinets.
Routines run on labels
Paper flow is where most classrooms lose time. A Turn In label, a Graded label and a Missing Work label on the filing cabinet or whiteboard turn collection and return into a routine students run themselves. Subject headers (Math, Reading, Science, Writing) across the top of a whiteboard make the daily agenda readable from every seat, and you move them instead of rewriting them every morning.
For supply stations, label each bin by item (Pencils, Markers, Crayons, Scissors, Glue Sticks) so clean-up at the end of centers takes a minute. Students learn faster when the label tells them exactly where something goes.
Readable from the back row
At 34mm tall with heavy white lettering on a solid color, our labels read across a classroom. We recommend the Hyperlegible font option for early readers and students with low vision. It was designed so that letters that look alike, such as I, l and 1, stay distinct.
Pick one color for the whole room for a calm look, or color-code by subject. Cobalt Blue is a calm classroom choice; Workshop Red works well for anything students should not touch without permission. Each order prints in one color, so color coding by subject means one order per color, each with the 5-label minimum.
Magnetic boards and cabinets
Most classroom whiteboards are steel-backed and magnetic, as are steel filing cabinets and many supply cabinets. Our exposed N52 magnets hold firmly but come off easily for a teacher rearranging the room. Test any board with a fridge magnet first. For wooden cubbies and plastic bins, choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing in the builder.
Note that these are strong neodymium magnets. Keep them mounted on boards and cabinets and out of reach of young children who might put small objects in their mouths.
Heat, sun and a full school year
Classrooms are easier on labels than most workplaces, with two exceptions. PLA plastic softens around 55 to 60C, so keep labels off radiator covers, away from laminators and out of a window that bakes in afternoon sun; long direct sunlight also fades color over time. For cleaning, wipe them with a damp cloth or the same mild cleaner you use on desks. Do not soak them or run them through a dishwasher.
Plan for the whole year when you order. Labels that change by unit, such as subject headers or center names, can live on a spare strip of the board until they are needed, so one order covers rotations from September to June.
Classroom label sets
Ready-made sets of the words this trade labels most, grouped by where they go. Each set opens in the builder with every label in place; add, remove or retype any of them before you order.
Daily Agenda Board labels
Magnetic classroom whiteboard labels. Field labels for the front whiteboard. Write the day's details beside each header with a dry-erase marker, and the headers stay straight and readable from the back row all year instead of being rewritten every morning.

Classroom label questions
Are these labels safe for young students?
They contain small, strong neodymium magnets. Mount them on boards and cabinets out of reach of young children, and do not use them as manipulatives. For the youngest grades, choose the 3M VHB adhesive option for fixed labels.
Will the labels stick to my whiteboard?
Most classroom whiteboards are steel-backed and magnetic. Test with a fridge magnet; glass and melamine boards will not hold magnets.
Can I order labels for every classroom in my building?
Yes. Set quantities per label in the builder. Pricing is $13.99 for the first 5 labels, then $2.00 for each extra label, dropping to $1.75 each past 25 labels and $1.50 each past 50. For district orders email hello@voltaritek.com.
Can teachers move the labels during the year?
Yes, that is the point of magnetic labels. Slide a subject header or move a supply label in seconds with no residue.
