Custom Coffee Shop Labels

In a coffee shop the morning rush leaves no time to search for the oat milk. Our labels name every shelf, bin and fridge row in heavy white lettering on Workshop Red, Heritage Black or Cobalt Blue, so a new barista can restock and find things on day one.

Milk fridges and the syrup rail

Milk mix-ups are the most common avoidable remake. Label each row in the undercounter fridge (Whole Milk, Nonfat, Oat Milk, Almond Milk, Cream) and keep the order the same on every shift. If your fridge interior is plastic or stainless, use the 3M VHB adhesive backing on the shelf edge or door, not a magnet.

On the syrup rail, label the rail or the shelf under it by flavor: Vanilla, Caramel, Mocha, Hazelnut. Pumps get swapped and bottles get moved, but a fixed label on the rail tells the closer where each one goes back.

Backstock, beans and retail

The backroom is where open-to-close consistency usually breaks down. Label shelving by what gets restocked together: Cups, Lids, Sleeves, Straws, Napkins, Filters. Put Beans, Espresso, Decaf and Retail Bags on their own shelves so roast dates are easy to check and the oldest bags get used first.

Painted steel wire shelving and steel storage cabinets take the exposed N52 magnets well, which means you can move labels when a new seasonal item takes over a shelf. Pick one color for supplies and another for coffee so the two never blur together.

Task boards and opening and closing stations

A magnetic whiteboard or steel task board with labeled columns like Opening, Closing and Cleaning keeps the checklist visible to everyone. Hyperlegible is a good font choice for boards that get read at a glance, and keeps I, l and 1 distinct on short codes.

Labels hold up to 12 characters and print 34mm tall, so short words stay big. If a word is too wide, the builder tells you before you order.

Where not to put them

These labels are PLA plastic and soften around 55 to 60C. Keep them off espresso machine bodies, grouphead areas, steam wands, hot water towers, ovens and anything that goes through the dishwasher. They are signage, not food contact items, so mount them on shelves, rails and bins, never inside containers. Wipe with a damp cloth or mild cleaner.

Coffee Shop label sets

Ready-made sets of the words this trade labels most, grouped by where they go. Each set opens in the builder with every label in place; add, remove or retype any of them before you order.

Coffee Shop label questions

Will magnetic labels stick to my coffee shop fridge?

Only if the surface is ferrous steel. Many undercounter fridges are stainless or plastic inside, which magnets will not hold. Use the 3M VHB adhesive backing there and magnets on steel wire shelving.

Can I put a label on my espresso machine?

No. The labels are PLA, which softens around 55 to 60C, and espresso machines run hotter than that. Label the shelf or rail next to the machine instead.

What should I label in a coffee shop backroom?

Group by what gets restocked together: Cups, Lids, Sleeves, Straws, Napkins and Filters on one run of shelving, and Beans, Decaf and Retail Bags on another. Short words keep each label big and readable.

Can I color-code milk and syrup labels?

Yes. Each order prints in one color, so place one order per color, each with the 5-label minimum. Five labels are $13.99 and each extra label is $2.00.

How fast do custom coffee shop labels ship?

They are printed to order and ship from Oregon in 3 to 5 business days with free US shipping.
