Custom Dental Office Labels

A dental office runs on assistants finding the right material in seconds and instruments moving one direction from dirty to sterile. Our labels put large white words on Cobalt Blue, Heritage Black or Workshop Red so the operatory drawer, the sterilization counter and the front-desk schedule board all say the same thing in the same place.

How should you label operatory drawers?

Label by procedure first, then by material. A common layout puts Gauze, Cotton Rolls and Bibs in the top drawer, restorative supplies like Composite, Bonding, Etch and Matrix Bands in the middle, and less frequent items like Temp Crowns, Impression material and Endo files lower down. Keep every operatory in the same order so a float assistant or a temp hygienist can set up a room they have never worked in.

Short words read best. One or two words per label keeps the lettering large, and the Hyperlegible font keeps I, l and 1 distinct, which helps on labels like Op 1 or Files that get read quickly with gloves on.

Making the sterilization area flow one direction

Most offices arrange the sterilization room as a line: Dirty receiving, Ultrasonic, Rinse, Dry, Wrap or Pouches, then the sterilizer and finally Sterile storage. Labeling each zone on the cabinet faces and shelves makes that flow visible to new hires and reinforces it on busy days. A useful habit is one color for the dirty side and a different color for the clean side, so nobody has to read the word to know which side they are on. Each order prints in one color, so place one order per color.

Be honest about heat: these labels are PLA plastic, which softens around 55 to 60C. Mount them on cabinets and shelves, never on or next to the autoclave door, the dryer, or anything that gets hot. They are not for sterilizing and not for direct patient contact.

Which dental office surfaces will the magnets stick to?

The exposed N52 magnets grip ferrous steel hard: painted steel cabinets, steel carts, filing cabinets and magnetic whiteboards. Many operatory cabinets are laminate or wood, and most stainless steel in a sterilization area is non-magnetic, so a magnet will not hold there. For those surfaces choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing in the builder, an optional add-on (price confirmed at order) that is semi-permanent.

Wipe labels with a damp cloth or a mild cleaner. Avoid soaking them, and test any harsh surface disinfectant on one label first.

Using labels on the front-desk schedule whiteboard

On a magnetic whiteboard the labels become movable headers: Op 1, Op 2, Hygiene, Doctor across the top, and status tags like New Patient, Emergency, Recall or Lab Cases that slide along as the day changes. Because they lift off cleanly, the board can be reset every morning without rewriting anything.

Dental Office label sets

Ready-made sets of the words this trade labels most, grouped by where they go. Each set opens in the builder with every label in place; add, remove or retype any of them before you order.

Dental Office label questions

Do magnetic labels stick to dental cabinets?

Only if the cabinet is ferrous steel. Many dental cabinets are laminate, wood or non-magnetic stainless, so choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing option for those.

Can these labels go in the sterilizer or on the autoclave?

No. They are PLA plastic and soften around 55 to 60C, so they cannot be sterilized and should be kept away from sterilizers, dryers and other hot equipment.

What font is easiest to read for dental drawer labels?

Hyperlegible is designed for low vision and keeps I, l and 1 distinct. Condensed fits longer words like Anesthetic or Matrix Bands.

How do I clean labels in a dental office?

Wipe them with a damp cloth or a mild cleaner. They are not rated for soaking, and harsh disinfectants should be tested on one label first.

How fast do custom dental office labels ship?

They are printed to order in Oregon and ship in 3 to 5 business days with free US shipping.
