Custom Home Pantry Labels
A pantry stays organized when everyone in the house knows where things go back. Our labels put a big, clear word on every shelf, cabinet, freezer door and bulk bin, in heavy white lettering on Workshop Red, Heritage Black or Cobalt Blue.
How to lay out pantry shelf labels
Group by how your family actually shops and cooks. A common layout puts Breakfast and Cereal at eye level, Snacks low enough for kids to reach, Baking, Flour and Sugar together, and Canned, Soups and Beans on a sturdy lower shelf. Label the shelf edge rather than each jar, so you can swap containers without relabeling.
Keep each label to one or two short words. Labels print up to 12 characters and 34mm tall, which is large enough for younger kids and older eyes to read from the doorway. Hyperlegible is a good font choice for anyone with low vision.
Steel cabinets, garage fridges and freezers
Many garage pantry setups use steel storage cabinets or steel wire shelving, and most garage fridges and chest freezers have painted steel doors and lids. The exposed N52 magnets grip those hard, so a Drinks, Meat or Leftovers label stays put when the door slams and moves when you reorganize.
Magnets will not hold on wood pantry shelves, plastic bins, glass, or stainless steel fridge doors, which are often non-magnetic. Test with a fridge magnet. If it falls, choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing, which is semi-permanent.
Bulk bins and backstock
If you buy in bulk, a labeled backstock zone keeps the pantry from overflowing. Mark shelves for Bulk, Backstock, Paper Goods, Pet Food and Water, and set aside an Emergency shelf for supplies you rotate a couple of times a year. Use one color for food and another for household and pet supplies so the two do not end up mixed.
Label the bin or shelf, not the food itself. These labels are signage, not food contact items.
Care and limits
The labels are PLA plastic, which softens around 55 to 60C. That is fine in a pantry or a typical garage, but keep them off ovens, toasters, the top of the fridge near the vent, and anything that goes in the dishwasher. A garage that gets very hot in summer is worth a quick check. Wipe them with a damp cloth. If one breaks or a magnet lets go in normal use, our 1-Year Hold Guarantee replaces it free.

Home Pantry label questions
Do magnetic labels stick to a garage fridge or freezer?
Most garage fridges and chest freezers have painted steel doors, so yes. Stainless doors are often non-magnetic; if a fridge magnet will not hold, choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing.
Can I use these labels on wood pantry shelves?
Magnets do not stick to wood, so choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing for wood shelves. It is semi-permanent and sticks to the shelf edge.
Can I put the labels directly on food containers?
We recommend labeling the shelf or bin instead. They are signage, not food contact items, and should not go in the dishwasher.
What are good pantry label categories?
Start with Pasta, Rice, Baking, Cereal, Canned, Snacks, Spices and Condiments, then add Bulk, Backstock and Paper Goods for overflow storage.
How much do custom pantry labels cost?
Five labels are $13.99 and each extra label is $2.00, with lower prices past 25 and 50 labels. They ship from Oregon in 3 to 5 business days with free US shipping.
