Custom Warehouse Labels

Slotting changes every season, and adhesive rack labels do not. Our magnetic labels sit on steel pallet rack beams, shelving uprights and dock door frames, then move in seconds when a lane gets reassigned. Heavy white lettering on a solid color field reads from a forklift seat, not just from arm's length.

Why magnetic labels suit pallet racking

Most selective pallet rack, wire shelving uprights and dock door frames are painted or galvanized steel, which is exactly what our exposed N52 neodymium magnets grip best. The magnets sit directly on the beam face with nothing in between, so labels stay put through normal vibration from forklifts and pallet jacks rolling past.

The real win is flexibility. When a fast mover moves to a golden zone pick face or a staging lane gets reassigned for peak, you pull the label and place it on the new beam. No scraping old adhesive off a beam, no half-peeled tags that confuse a new picker. If a section of your building uses aluminum carts or plastic bins, choose the 3M VHB adhesive backing option for those labels instead.

What to label first: docks, lanes and exceptions

Start where mistakes cost the most. Label every dock door (Dock 1, Dock 2) at eye height on the door frame and again on the staging lane in front of it, so a loader never stages a pallet for the wrong trailer. Then label the exception areas: Returns, Damaged, QC Hold and Quarantine. Product that lands in the wrong one of those spots tends to ship by accident.

Our labels are 34mm tall and up to 12 characters, so they are best for zone and lane names, not full location codes or barcodes. Keep your scannable bin labels for the system and use ours as the big, readable layer above them: aisle letters, bay numbers, lane names and status areas.

Color coding inbound, outbound and holds

Each order prints in one color, so many warehouses split by flow. Cobalt Blue for inbound and receiving, Heritage Black for outbound and shipping, and Workshop Red for anything that must not ship: holds, damaged goods and quarantine. A picker learns in a day that red means stop, and a supervisor can scan the floor for red labels to see where exceptions are piling up. To color-code, place one order per color; each has its own 5-label minimum.

A note on conditions: the labels are PLA plastic, which softens around 55 to 60C. Keep them off dock doors and trailer areas that bake in direct summer sun, and away from heaters. Long outdoor UV exposure fades color, so use them inside the building. Wipe them with a damp cloth when dust builds up.

Warehouse label sets

Ready-made sets of the words this trade labels most, grouped by where they go. Each set opens in the builder with every label in place; add, remove or retype any of them before you order.

Dock and Lanes labels

Magnetic dock door and staging lane labels. Label every dock door at eye height on the frame and again on the staging lane in front of it. Loaders stage pallets for the right trailer, and lanes move in seconds when you reassign them for peak.

Returns and Holds labels

Magnetic quarantine and hold area labels. Exception areas are where product ships by accident. Mark returns, damaged goods, QC holds and quarantine clearly, ideally in one warning color, so a picker never pulls from a spot that must not ship.

Pack Station labels

Magnetic pack station shelf labels. Label the shelves above and below the pack bench so packers reach for cartons, mailers and void fill without looking. Restock runs get faster because an empty labeled spot is easy to see.

Rack Locations labels

Magnetic pallet rack beam labels for aisles. Big, readable aisle, bay and level names on the rack beam, above your scannable location labels. When slotting changes, pull the label and move it, with no adhesive left on the beam.

Warehouse label questions

Do magnetic labels stick to pallet rack beams?

Yes, on standard painted or galvanized steel pallet rack beams and uprights. The exposed N52 magnets sit directly on the steel. They do not stick to aluminum, plastic or wood; choose the 3M VHB adhesive option for those.

Will forklift traffic knock the labels off?

Normal vibration from passing forklifts and pallet jacks will not move them, because the magnets sit flush against the steel. A direct hit from a pallet or fork can knock any rack label loose, so place them on the beam face away from the load path where you can.

Can these labels replace barcode location labels?

No. They are large readable text labels up to 12 characters, not scannable barcodes. Most warehouses use them for zones, lanes, dock doors and hold areas alongside their existing barcode labels.

Can I use these labels on dock doors?

Yes, on steel door frames and dock door surrounds. Keep them out of spots that sit in direct summer sun, since PLA softens around 55 to 60C.

How fast do warehouse rack labels ship?

They are printed to order in Oregon and ship in 3 to 5 business days with free US shipping.
